Places to Visit in Coventry

With a long illustrious history Coventry certainly has no shortage of excellent places to go as a visitor to the city. Whether you're a fan of heritage sites or are more into contemporary urban pleasures, you'll find plenty to choose from in Coventry, both within the city and in the surrounding areas.

Saint Michael's CathedralSaint Michael's Cathedral

A must see when you're in this city, the cathedral is an impressive sight. Only part of this 14th century structure survives to this day, since it underwent serious damage during the war. However, what remains is well worth a visit. The cathedral spire is one of England's tallest, and forms a defining feature in the Coventry skyline making views of the city instantly recognisable.

Coventry is home to a wealth of arts and culture facilities, but the Herbert is one of the most important. Home to a wide range of artworks, educational and media resources, the building's remarkable architecture is one of its most interesting features. A vast glass fronted section of the building affords you incredible views of the city. The centre is also a great place to spend time regardless of whether you're attending a particular event, as it's home to a cafe and various other public spaces.

Coventry's Transport Museum is a real magnet for motoring lovers. For exhibits relating to the British motor industry this place is second to none. The location of the museum harks back to Coventry's place within the car industry of the past, in which the city was one a major player. The transport museum is a great experience for families, with an extensive collection of things to see, and best of all it's free!

Lying not far from the city bounds of Coventry is the incredible Lunt Fort, which is a Roman Fort located within Baginton, a charming Warwickshire village. Lunt Fort is well worth the short trip from Coventry, a fun outdoor location to spend time on a pleasant day.
